RED RUM
Hailing from the Saxon county of Nottinghamshire sails Red Rum, a band of cutthroat pirates, epic Vikings and bloodthirsty warriors!
Originally formed as a college project in 2011, Red Rum quickly formed a loyal fan base and began to make a name for themselves on the metal scene.
With the release of their first EP “With Gods By Our Side” in 2013, Red Rum continued to grow in popularity and in 2014 joined forces with Alestorm on the UK leg of their Piratefest tour, which took the band all around England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales to spread their particular brand of Pirate Metal.
With the success of their first tour, they entered the studio to record their first full-length album “Booze and Glory” which went on to be a resounding success in the metal community. In August of the same year, they were invited to play Bloodstock for the first time as one of the first bands to open the festival on the Thursday that year. The show went down a storm and the band couldn’t wait to be asked back to play again!
In 2016 Red Rum embarked on their second UK tour with Skiltron that took them all the way from Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales up to Inverness in North Scotland, and the band was once again met with open arms across the land.
Hot on the tails of their last tour, Red Rum were asked to perform on the main stage at the Birmingham O2 Arena at Hard Rock Hell which would be the bands biggest show to date, that was until they were invited back to play Bloodstock for a second time this year! The band is excited to get back out onto the stage again this year and party with the metalheads of Bloodstock for a weekend of metal, mates and mayhem!
“After opening the festival on the Sophie Lancaster stage in 2015, we had always hoped there would be an opportunity for us to play this amazing festival again, and now the time has come! We’re thrilled to have been asked back to play this year, and look forward to partying with everyone for a weekend of metal, booze and glory!”
