Hailing from the burgeoning Asian metal scene, are Nepalese disruptors Underside. Following the near decade long civil war, these Himalayan metal heavyweights came together in 2010 as a loud and aggressive response to the socio-political situation. the four-piece band are one of the biggest & best metal bands Nepal and neighbouring India have ever seen. they have taken their riotous metal to venues across Europe and Australia and this year have plans to conquer The U.S.
Even though the metal scene in Nepal is in its infancy, Underside are unafraid to take risks with either their lyrics or the extremity of their music. Off the back of the success of their international Satan In Your Stereo launch tour, the band have released their latest smash Make Believe on YouTube (watch online now) The rebellious attitude of all four men combined with exceptional guitar Shredding skills and blood-curdling screams, Underside have carved out something extreme and wholly their own!
In 2011, Underside founded Silence Festival, which is the only annual metal festival in Nepal. Their aim was to turn Nepal into a destination for international bands. In just a few years, it has grown into a huge 2-day long festival descended upon by over 4,000 metal heads! More than that, it has already hosted legends such as Behemoth, Vader, Textures and SikTh Silence Festival is the biggest and loudest metal festival in subcontinental India.
Unfortunately, Nepal was thrust into the global consciousness in 2015 after A devastating earthquake shook Kathmandu and left the historic city in ruins.. This disaster claimed the lives of over 12,000 and displaced many, many more. Underside were forced to put Silence festival on hold. In its place, they set up a series of fundraising concerts under the banner Metal For Nepal. Across 18 shows in four countries, they raised over £12,000 for emergency aid. The final show in Nepal, headlined by Underside themselves, raised enough money to help rebuild a school in the hard-hit mountainous area of Sindhupalchowk.
Underside are already getting some love outside of their Homeland. Underside are dedicated to uniting a generation. This is the year their rebellion truly goes global! They have already been booked to appear in festivals across the, USA Australia, New Zealand and the UK including an appearance at BloodStock UK!
