THE MAIN STAGE IS FULL! The latest addition to the Bloodstock Open Air 2009 line up comes in the form of NWOBHM heroes BLITZKRIEG. Formed in Leicester in 1980, the band released their debut single in 1981 via NEAT Records. The B-Side, a track simply called “Blitzkriegâ€, was covered by a young Thrash band called METALLICA, who released their version of the song on their “Creeping Death†EP 3 years later. With their 30th birthday approaching next year, BLITZKRIEG is starting the celebrations early with an appearance at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2009.

Three more additions on the SOPHIE LANCASTER stage come in the form of melodic Metallers EDEN’S CURSE, DARKNESS DYNAMITE who will be bringing their metallic brand of rock-core on the ferry from France, and homegrown heroes MALEFICE, who are looking forward to tearing BLOODSTOCK a new one, as well as pay tribute to the girl who lends her name to the stage:
“We’re delighted to be asked to appear on Bloodstock 2009. We’re even more honoured to be a part of the Sophie Lancaster Stage, as the disgusting nature of her death is something I speak about on the track “Sickened†on our latest album “Dawn Of Reprisalâ€. Sophie was killed because of the way she looked, and at the end of the day this is no different to being killed because of the colour of your skin or your religious beliefs. We hope this will be an ongoing tribute to Sophie, and support Bloodstock in their efforts to stamp out mindless hatred and hypocrisy wherever it may beâ€.
