BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR saw it’s most successful year yet as over 10,900 metalheads descended on CATTON HALL last weekend. From the moment THE DEFILED struck their first note, opening the RONNIE JAMES DIO stage on the Friday, it was clear the assembled army of headbangers were in for a hell of a weekend. Whether it was the metal thrashing madness of the likes of FORBIDDEN, KREATOR and EXODUS, the brutality of MORBID ANGEL, AT THE GATES and NAPALM DEATH or plain ol heavy metal from international heavyweights such as RHAPSODY OF FIRE, HAMMERFALL and WOLF, all in attendance were treated to a veritable metal banquet, crowned by headline sets from MOTORHEAD, WASP and IMMORTAL - who brought their full pyro show to the UK for the first time in history, and commented:
“Bloodstock ´11 was a massive experience, and a great return to the UK. See you in Blashyrkh!”
Their sentiments are echoed by the festival organisers, who state:
"We're overjoyed at the success of this years Bloodstock. Our highest attendance yet from an ever loyal fan base of true metal heads which clearly shows that the Metal scene in the UK truly is stronger than ever. The incredibly friendly atmosphere Bloodstock is so well known for was clearly evident to everyone all weekend and the buzz front of house and backstage was electric.
Bloodstock is a full year in the planning and we promise to deliver an amazing lineup for 2012 and as always the best value festival for all metal heads in the UK."
