With just four weekend separating you from the multitude of mighty metal that is BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR, organizers reveal some more additions to the 2011 line up.
Rising from the ashes of what was undoubtedly the greatest "Blue Peter Metal" band of their time - Thor's Children - EVIL SCARECROW have gone on to leave audiences awed by their Iron Maiden meets Black Metal meets stickyback plastic performances. With influences from artists such as Megadeth, Marilyn Manson, Europe and of course Immortal's make up application techniques, you can never be too sure what will be served up next, but that's just part of the experience.
Over the past few years the band have gone from strength to strength starting with winning the Bloodstock Open Air unsigned band competition and opening the Main Stage of the Festival in 2008. Now they return to BOA to give their first performance on the SOPHIE stage.
"We're absolutely thrilled to be asked back to Bloodstock, we're big fans of the festival some of us started attending right back in 2001 at The Assembly Rooms in Derby. Bloodstock is an important date in the diary of so many Metallers it's an honour to be part of that, we're very much looking forward to bringing the Evil Scarecrow show to the Sophie Lancaster stage."
Joining them will be progressive death-metallers MORTAD. Founded in Scotland, in 2009 by Iranian vocalist, Somi Arian, MORTAD began carving its path with venom fuelled lyrics, taking aim at the hypocrisy of religion and the government as well as seeking inner truth and strength in the face of such oppression. Mixing razor sharp riffs, deep rumbling bass and crushing pounding drums, wrapped up in fierce female vocals, MORTAD have honed a sound built on an extreme metal foundation, while constantly pushing the boundaries of the genre. Fans of the likes Gojira and Strapping Young Lad will not be disappointed.
JAGERMEISTER ACOUSTIC STAGE
BLOODSTOCK are also delighted to announce the second batch of bands that will acoustically lay waste to the Jagermeister Stage. This stage will play host to bands interacting with the crowd on an up close and personal level.
OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE
Manchester based DIY rock band Obsessive Compulsive are creating a big noise on the UK underground music scene. With their dark, grungey rock anthems energetic live shows and punk attitude they are building a steady army of hardcore fans.
Eschewing major label polished pop bloatedness for their own hard working DIY ethic they appeal to real music fans and people looking for something a little different and more edgy than the force-fed, homogenised, radio-friendly rock diet pushed onto teenagers by big money music corporations.
In May 2010 OC unleashed their long-awaited debut long player on, their own label, Vociferous records. " Dreams of Death and the Death of Dreams" is an intense blend of gentle whispers and heavy, crushing rage, dystopian, bleak and venomous but simmering with vulnerability, the wait was definitley worth it!
This is a one off opportunity to witness the band in an acoustic environment and not to be missed!

AMARANTHE
Already performing their full show on the Sophie Lancaster Stage, AMARANTHE is the Swedish/Danish power/melodic death metal band formed by Jake E. Lundberg Olof Morck; however, it was when singers Elize Ryd Andy Solvestrom entered the picture, followed by drummer Morten Lowe, that things truly started to take shape. Originally called Avalanche, the band first came to public attention via a four-song demo (2008)… and now that demo has developed into a debut album – called simply ‘Amaranthe’, produced by Jacob Hansen and due for release on June 06th via Spinefarm Records, preceded by the single/video ‘Hunger’. The bands debut studio album is to be released June 06th 2011 via Spinefarm Records To support the release of the album, Amaranthe were Special Guesting with Kamelot on two UK dates in April 2011. Of course, Swedish vocalist Elize is no stranger to Kamelot’s music, having performed live with the band throughout 2010…

ALTERNATIVE CARPARK
After their storming of the Jager Stage in 2009 were delighted to welcome back the mighty ACP!
Distinctive and eclectic, ACP's particular style merges the extremes of rock and metal music with an embracingly destructive blues. The cathartic audio violence of their shows has lead to a wide-reaching reputation in the U.K. underground rock scene.

RANNOCH
Hailing from the West Midalnds Rannoch are nothing short of Power, Precision, Intensity and Complexity. Their Progressive Death Metal sound is driven by Frontman and Guitarist Ian Gilling who commands the stage with an intense passion and drive that can be found in both the vocal delivery and the breathtaking twin guitar works that leaves audiences breathless. The fleeting comparisons to the likes of Devin Townsend, Opeth and Nevermore are there but the driving forces is undoubtedly in Rannoch’s own true sound.
This intimate melodic rendition of their works will be in addition to their already scheduled performance on the Newblood Stage.

FANTASIST
Offering something a little different Fantasist are amalgamations of complex song structures, stop-start dynamics, prog quirkiness, punishing riffs, energy superior melodies. Fantasist are a power trio, with bassist and vocalist Robb dreaded up and in a suit, shirt, braces ensemble whilst guitarist/vocalist Ollie was dapper in pinstripe suit and bowler. They plan to take the Jager stage by the scruff and own it, striding around the stage and mashing the grooves. Their sound is a funky, bass-heavy, screaming sensations, pulling the crowd in and making them raise fists!

AVENGE THEE AND NAIME
Canterbury based underground lunatics Avenge Thee and Naime are a music law unto themselves!! Often setting the drums up in the crowd and inviting fans to join them on stage to become part of the show, this is a unique ( if not slightly off the wall) hardcore band that will captivate crowds and are a perfectly suited to the Jager Stage!!
