For the third year running Teenage Cancer Trust will be the official charity partner at this weekend’s (8-11 August) ultimate metal festival - Bloodstock at Catton Park, Derbyshire.
Last year’s festival raised a whopping £4,775 for Teenage Cancer Trust and it’s hoped this year’s will smash £5,000.
There will be plenty of ways for the all the festival goers to get involved such as taking part in the unique T-shirt Amnesty where unwanted T-shirts can be donated and retro rock and metal T-shirts can be bought in exchange for a donation.
Dedicated headbangers will also have the chance to enter a raffle to win an exclusive prize of a Yamaha bass signed by rock legend Lemmy from Motörhead amongst other prizes, while bands One for Sorrow, States of Panic and Mia Klose will also be holding signings in the Teenage Cancer Trust tent in exchange for a donation. We will also be raising money throughout the weekend via guest list donations.
All funds raised over the whole weekend will support young people with cancer throughout the UK. Every day around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer. The charity funds and builds specialist units in NHS hospitals and provides dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them. Traditionally treated alongside children or elderly patients at the end of their lives, young people can feel extremely isolated, some never meeting another young person with cancer. Being treated alongside others their own age in a Teenage Cancer Trust unit can make a huge difference to their whole experience.
Jen Walker, Music Coordinator for Teenage Cancer Trust said: “This year’s festival is going to be even bigger and better! We are really grateful to Bloodstock for supporting us again, especially since Teenage Cancer Trust relies on donations to fund its vital work.”
