Hot on the heels of last week’s band announcement, BLOODSTOCK can now unveil a further seven bands locked in to play at Catton Park this August.
BLOODSTOCK are delighted to welcome Norwegian “blackjazz” act SHINING, who will grace the main Ronnie James Dio Stage on Friday. SHINING are an intriguing, avant garde mix of jazz, prog, and metal, citing varied influences from John Coltrane to Nine Inch Nails. Bringing their jiggery to Friday’s Sophie Lancaster Stage are folk metal pioneers, SKYCLAD. The band played the first ever BLOODSTOCK at Derby’s Assembly Rooms back in 2001 and are very much looking forward to getting a ‘jig-pit’ going once again at BOA 2014. Guitarist Steve Ramsey is already appearing with his ‘other’ band SATAN, who headline Sunday’s Sophie stage. Check out their ‘Words Upon The Street’ video on the Youtube video below :
Also raising havoc on the Sophie Stage on Friday are Brit riffmeisters, KROKODIL. Featuring members of Gallows, Cry For Silence, Sikth, and Hexes, the chaps describe themselves as “mostly beards and riffs”! Front magazine wrote, “Think Mastodon meets Baroness, and you’re one eighth on the way to understanding how insane this band are.” check out their facebook www.facebook.com/krokodilrock
London heavy rock ruffians THE MERCY HOUSE have nabbed a spot on Saturday’s Sophie Stage. The band pulled off a skin-peeling set on BLOODSTOCK’s Jagermeister stage in 2012. Get a dose of the ‘My Disease’ video from debut album ‘A Broken State Of Bliss’ can be viewed on the Youtube video below :
Big Cheese magazine rates it, declaring "The whole album is packed full of insane riffs, pinched harmonics, and soaring vocals, and it's absolutely glorious."
Sunday’s line up on the Sophie Lancaster Stage is shaping up nicely too, with the following three bands joining the fold.
First up are Swedish hellraisers, AVATAR. No strangers to the UK, the band have visited previously with Five Finger Death Punch and Avenged Sevenfold, to name but two. AVATAR are presently gearing up for the release of a brand new album, recorded in Thailand. Keep up with frontman Johannes on Twitter at: http://twitter.com/johannes_avatar . You can see what you’re in for by watching their video for ‘Torn Apart’ on the Yotube video below :
from their current release, ‘Black Waltz’.
Melo-death Brummies MORGUE ORGY are set to return to Catton Park with a vengeance, enthusing, “We are truly honoured and excited to play BLOODSTOCK after what has been a busy 2013, recording and releasing our début album, ‘The Last Man On Earth’. We can't wait to get onstage and perform our best set for the BLOODSTOCK crowd, and if our 2010 set on the New Blood Stage was anything to go by, we know it’s going to be an awesome atmosphere inside that tent! Let's get ready to party! Rot n’ Roll!” Hotly tipped by Terrorizer magazine, learn more at:
