The Bloodstock team are delighted to announce that Brazilian metallers SOULFLY have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2008.
Soulfly were formed in 1997 by vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera following his acrimonious departure from Sepultura and the band have gone on to record no less than six albums fusing thrash, hardcore and traditional tribal influences. Their self-titled debut, featuring a host of guest musicians, emerged in 1998 and immediately entered the US Billboard top 200 chart, its bottom-heavy groove continuing the highly-influential style that Cavalera had pioneered with his final Sepultura album ‘Roots’. 2000’s follow-up ‘Primitive’ – also packed with guest appearances - did even better and established a trend that has seen every Soulfly album crack the Billboard 200. ‘3’, ‘Prophecy’ and ‘Dark Ages’ all followed, with Cavalera enduring line-up changes and personal tragedy to keep his personal metal vision on the rails. In the second half of 2007, Cavalera and the current line-up of guitarist Marc Rizzo, bassist Bobby Burns and drummer Joe Nunez commenced work on the band’s latest album ‘Conquer’ which is set for release on July 29, just in time for what’s set to be an explosive Bloodstock debut.
