With this initiative open to breaking bands Worldwide it has
proven to be huge launch pad for many bands.
One of the great success stories is the Costa Rican band - Sight of
Emptiness who won this very competition and have since gone on to
support MEGADETH, AMON AMARTH and DARK TRANQUILITY!
GRAND
ULTRA
In 2007, frontman Joe Hill was feeling despondent about his current
project's lack of progress and began to look for a more ambitious live act.
After he discovered like-minded rock guitarist Justin Larner, they worked
together on an amalgamation of modern metal songs with a rip-roaring, thrashy
performance style in-fused with the sleaze attitude of the classic rock
golden-age.
Joe answered an online ad put up by Justin for "an experienced
guitarist looking for band". The pair immediately started exchanging
musical ideas online and found an inbuilt musical kinship that would bring them
together to form the band. The band's name was decided almost as a metaphor for
the type of sound they wanted to create. The old (grand) classic rock style
infused with the modern (ultra) enthusiasm of today. Several line-up issues set
the band's first debut live performance back as far as January 2010, but when
it came, it rocked. Armed with the blazing new drummer Gary Evans and the heavy
anchoringbass linesof Stuart Wildey, they went gigging throughout
2010 with roaring reviews.Within the first year of performing live they
had already received2 gleaming reviews in local magazines, management
small-time label offers, and were also approached by a young but talented
studio producer. They were ready to hit the studio in time for Christmas where
the two newest tracks "GUNS AT DAWN" "GOODBYE ANGEL"
were to be laid down. In 2011 the band saw the release of the record to great
reviews in the Midlands and even abroad.
Grand Ultra now feel that with
the platform given by Bloodstock they’re now ready to unleash the Ultra sound!!
