Band Line Up 2012
Band Photo Gallery
Coming together in late 2007, work
ensued immediately on writing and performing with their debut album ‘Beneath
The Veiled Embrace’ being recorded and completed by early 2009, with Jacob
Hansen handling mix and mastering duties. Touring commenced with support slots
with Arch Enemy, Tarja, Fields Of The Nephilim and Ministry to name a few that
were realized due the bands wide cross market appeal.
The self released album went on to
sell in excess of 10,000 units globally based purely on a Japanese license and
physical UK distribution, with global digital representation via iTunes and
secondary digital suppliers. Features and reviews rated the album highly and
gave a consistently key message to fans that PYTHIA were a world class act.
Lead video from ‘Beneath The Veiled Embrace’ has seen more than 50,000 You Tube
plays alone despite a limited physical and digital release.
On the back of the fantastic response
to their initial material, the band went back to the drawing board between
shows to start writing material towards the follow up album, this process
drawing in all aspects of the band members personal music tastes whilst imbuing
the essence of what they had created with their debut. This would lead to the
most diverse and challenging material the band had written.
Recording material
commenced in late 2010 and the album was again mixed and mastered by Jacob
Hansen by mid 2011. In the meantime, the band took a hiatus whilst Emily gave
birth to her first child. In that time, the band decided to reissue ‘Beneath
The Veiled Embrace’ in a very limited deluxe limited fan box set and vinyl
picture disc as a means to start winding up activities towards the release of
their new album, entitled ‘The Serpent’s Curse’.
Artwork was commissioned and completed
by Brian Froud, a major fantasy artist who contributed to both Star Wars and
Labyrinth, with layout completed by cutting edge UK based artist Gurdish
Haugsdal. The band then decided what should be the lead single and set about
shooting the lead video ‘Betray My Heart’.
‘Betray My Heart’ was launched in the
UK just before Christmas 2011, and to date has gained over 12,000 views on You
Tube alone, with the single released on very limited red vinyl 7”, CD single
and iTunes in the UK. Also commissioned are two tracks for the Rock Band
Network and bonus tracks and exclusive artwork to fulfill the Japanese release
of ‘The Serpent’s Curse’.
We will be releasing the album in the
UK on CD, special edition CD & DVD and vinyl picture disc, with a fan box
set to follow that will include exclusive items. Initial reviews for ‘The
Serpent’s Curse’ have come in extremely favourably, with marked reviews yet to
fall under 9.5/10. Support slots with Dragonforce and Serenity brings the album
to the masses, with more dates being announced soon.
