ACID AGE
Since their inception in 2013, Acid Age have attracted the adoration of punks, metallers and jazzers alike with their unique and zany style of music which they affectionately call "War-Jazz". A psychedelic fusing of thrash metal and jazz fusion. These servants of old-school metal excellence reek of personality. Their 2021 album "Semper Pessimus" was an ambitious concept album that set the scene of Nero, the last emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. It received rave reviews and physical copies sold out within a year of release. During the month of March 2021, Semper Pessimus was the bestselling thrash metal album on Bandcamp.
Drummer Aran Howe is versed in the technical styling of old swing drummers like Billy Cobham and Buddy Rich, whilst playing with the de-railing intensity of metal drummers like Dave Lombardo and Tom Hunting.
Bassist Jake Martin is a stoic presence as he effortlessly switches from one complex rhythm to another, on either a fretless 5 string bass or his beloved Fender Jazz. Jake's playing is the space between Les Claypool and Steve DiGiorgio.
That only leaves fire-spitting vocalist and guitarist Jude - a man possessed with both riffs and vision, towing the line between Eddie Van Halen and Gary Holt.
In 2023 Acid Age celebrated their 10th year as a band by touring with Evile, playing a 2 hour anniversary show and winning M2TM, earning the much coveted spot at Bloodstock 2023.
Acid Age are currently working on the follow-up to Semper Pessimus, which they have announced will be titled "PERILOUS COMPULSION".
The fact that we have went from being a trio of mates who started making an awful noise in our bass players garage to playing Bloodstock with the top heavy metal bands in the world, is surreal.
We love everything about M2TM. The exposure, photography, stage, lights and friends we made was more than satisfactory but then we won and got to both attend and play Bloodstock 2023 we couldn't believe it, Bloodstock is heavy metal Mecca. It's where everyone comes together with a common goal, HEAVY FUCKING METAL! The sense of community at that festival is undeniable. Now that we have a chance to return and play the Sophie stage, we aim to show everyone why we are the best War-Jazz band in the world and we will do it for Sophie. See you in August
