PLANET MOSH
Babylon Fire, based in Manchester (UK), released their debut full length album "Dark Horizons" on Rocksector Records on 12th November 2012.
The band had started in 2007 as a 5-piece built on a foundation of Iron Maiden Black Sabbath, extended into the territories of Stone Sour, Machine Head Five Finger Death Punch. The band developed ultimately emerged with a signature sound as a 4-piece following the amicable departure of guitarist Will Reece.
Band members.... Ryk Swillo (bass) | Rishi Mehta (guitar)
Mark Cooper (drums) | Mark Dunford (vocals)
A raison d'etre of writing dynamic, powerful heavy songs with an emphasis on melody was the basis for a self-released 4 track EP in 2009, around which time Babylon Fire also increased its' presence on the live circuit including support slots with Orange Goblin, Blaze Bayley, Heaven's Basement, Panic Cell, Beholder Fury UK.
When Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson began raving about the band on his BBC6 radio show more people took notice this kind of attention gave the band the required impetus to write record its' first full length opus "Dark Horizons" which subsequently attracted widespread acclaim.
Recorded during May-June 2012 at MCC Studios, Mottram, Cheshire (UK), produced by Andy Giblin (Kill2This / iDefi), "Dark Horizons" is a raging ferocious, yet diverse, slab of heavy metal. Listen out for the infectious hooks sheer aggression, then retreat here there into the sensitively crafted clean acoustic guitar interludes.
After touring the UK during 2013, plus an excellent introduction to European audiences in both Belgium Netherlands, as well as a highly successful 2014 performance as support to Soilwork, Babylon Fire recently played a 16 date UK tour as special guests of labelmates Absolva are set to do the same on 15 dates in Europe during September early October.
A follow-up to the "Dark Horizons" album is currently at planning stage although writing for this won't start significantly until after the European Tour is complete.
