“We are Jonestown, an exercise in stupidity and the acquisition of dreams sold to us by engaging ourselves in too much TV at an early age. Convinced that we are talented or special (much like everyone else in our generation) when the painful truth is, we are not special. In the realisation that we are not special we came to find that we were angry. With no great cause, war or external tribulation we focus our negativity into the blandest and most predictable of creative pursuits, music. Just like us our music is not special but we can assure you on the other hand that it's angry and honest.”
We are a new metal band hailing from Brighton and Hove, UK that are looking to make a name for ourselves in the Metal scene, both locally and nationally. We have hit the ground running and started to gain a great reputation by winning Metal to the Masses to play Bloodstock after only 6 weeks as a live band. Since then we have been chatting to local promoters and other promoters around the country in order to get more gigs booked in.
All members bring a wealth of experience to the outfit with Harley Anderson having been a founding member of underground heavyweights Internal Conflict who were exposed by Terrorizer magazine and Metal Hammer giving them an 8/10 and dubbed them 2nd best unsigned metal act 2008. Also with which he recorded a music video that was released via BlankTV and won their own Metal to the Masses to go on to play Bloodstock themselves. Harley has even shared the stage doing vocals with Peter Dolving and The Haunted. Our Brighton born and bred drummer, Rich Owen, was a in a well-known Melodic death Metal band Echovirus who built a very strong fan base and following the release of their Album Invictus via Casket/Corpro Records went on to be offered a record deal and play Download Festival and Hammerfest. Our guitarist, Craig Radford had newly moved to Brighton and was previously in another Horsham/Crawley based outfit called Ethycs whom played around the South East of England in 2012-2013 and last, but by no means least, Pete Greenhalgh, our bassist, was in an Isle of Wight based Speed Metal band, Heterodox, whom had an extremely avid and devoted fan base on the Isle of Wight and went on to be the first Metal band to play the Isle of Wight festival.
We all came together with a common passion for music and the confidence that we can bring a good live performance and a desire to be a straight up Metal band who stand out for being original but satisfy the appetite of metal-heads across all genres. A mix of different tastes within the metal genre makes for an extremely powerful and interesting sound.
Danny Hughes from IMPALED EXISTENCE said; “JONESTOWN were slick tight considering the time you guys have been together, you held the crowd and you definitely have what it takes to go all the way to Bloodstock! We would love to play with you again!”
Ryan Penny of GIG SNAPPER photography said; "With their dark themes, crushing riffs and psychotic stage presence, JONESTOWN are set to tear the UK a new one!"
Mark Woodbridge of Jackhammer Promotions said; “Well Jonestown were a little brilliant. Excellent first show!”
Michael Kehoe of DeadDaveRadio in the US said; “Hell yes! That is some great stuff… no considering about it…definitely going to give this some airplay”
We are extremely excited for the opportunity to play this year’s Bloodstock festival and for us to have won Metal to the Masses after only having been a live, gigging band for 6 weeks has still got to settle in, but we are confident we can provide a dynamic and exciting show to those checking us out over the weekend. We would definitely recommend for any band to enter in the Metal to the Masses competition next year as it has been a great experience so far. Bring on Bloodstock, see you all there!”
