Set up the stage, rev the mighty atomic engine of their Heavy Groove Vehicle and let loose like four sonic dogs of rock ‘n’ roll.
But just who or what are Goat Leaf ?
They are master builders of volume; their songs are carved from stone and born in the dark heart of South Yorkshire, yet speak the universal language of space, speed, love and murder.
Their debut album Colorscene , released in spring 2011 gained some very favourable reviews and a strong following across the Uk and further afield with reviews in Germany , France and Spain.
The band has always been at home up on the stage and with this release the boys gigged hard across the Uk building on their growing following with headline and support slots. Most notably opening for Corrosion of Conformity in April 2011. The gigs came thick and fast with the band constantly writing new material on the road and in between shows.
As the band wrote more material their live shows changed dramatically with more and more songs being added and songs from their debut being dropped in favour of newer material. It became very apparent to the band that they needed to record these new songs. Initial plans were to record a stop gap EP but as the band starting demoing the new material it was obvious to everyone involved that the quality of the songs had moved up a gear and what they were really looking at was album number 2.
On Friday 13th April 2012 Goat Leaf began the recording process. Songs like " Aint Got Time To Bleed " " Love Under Will " and the epic " Truth be Told " took on a life of their own once the tape was running .
There was a growing confidence in these songs and the band could feel it. Behind the scenes there was more and more interest in the name Goat Leaf. The boys continued to play some killer shows , their new found confidence growing, knowing what they had created in the studio taking the band to another level.
Things were going so well at this point a decision was made to have the album mixed Mastered at another studio . Enter Jaime Gomez Arellano , renowned for his work on Ghost's " Opus Eponymous " . A deal was stuck and Jaime agreed to mix and master the album at Orgone Studios , London. The first song Jaime mixed was " Aint Got to Bleed " and after only listening to it for the first 30 seconds the band knew this was probably the best decision they had ever made. Jaime had captured everything about Goat Leaf that makes them the band they are.
On 28th January 2013 album number 2 was released.
Entitled A Lack of Oxygen - Tales of Crashing Satellites and featuring 10 news songs the reviews were fantastic from the word go. This time the band was featured in Classic Rock , Metal Hammer , Power Play to name a few.
In April 2013 the band headed out on the road with London rockers Zodiac Black for a joint headline tour. Taking in Nottingham , Edinburgh , Sheffield , Wales and London. All of the shows were fantastic , Sheffield and London were both close to capacity.
Playing summer festivals through June and July the boys turned there attention to Europe. With a headline show in Amsterdam and a special guests slot at the 3rd annual Del.Rock festival in Belgium in August . September 2013 saw Goat Leaf head to Spain for their first shows there and their most successful tour to date. Headlining every night the band played Barcelona , Zaragoza and Madrid. The reaction from the crowds every night was fantastic and left the boys open mouthed and hungry for more. More dates are already in the planning stages for next year.
Still out on the road promoting album number 2 and in true Goat Leaf fashion new songs are being worked on once again while on the road and in between shows .
