In 2007 Bloodshot Dawn recorded and released their first effort in the form of ‘Coalition Of Terror’, a two track EP that received positive feedback both critically and around their local metal scene. The band then went on to win the 2009 ‘Metal To The Masses’ competition, playing at Bloodstock Open Air Festival with the likes of influential bands such as Carcass, Arch Enemy and Kreator.
Late 2009 Bloodshot Dawn began preparing material for their follow up to ‘Coalition Of Terror’. This came in the form of the ‘Slaves To The Lie’ EP, released in February 2011. This EP was self-financed and made available worldwide via all major online distribution websites. Bloodshot Dawn supported the release with tour dates in the UK, including gigs with Vader, Krisiun, and Cerebral Bore.
In September 2011, Bloodshot Dawn entered 16th Cellar Studios in Rome (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance), to record their debut full-length release. The self-titled album has seen Bloodshot Dawn's writing style mature noticeably, becoming more intense and technical, while increasingly melodic and accessible. This unique writing sensibility, coupled with fierce production from Stefano Morabito, has resulted in an album that has seen Bloodshot Dawn claimed by many as one of the UK's fiercest Metal bands.
The album was completed in December 2011 and was self-released on 26th January 2012. The critically acclaimed album has received extremely positive feedback from the fans, reviews, interviews and radio play. Terrorizer cited the album as “a polished exercise in technical fury unremitting brutality”, going on to say “what Bloodshot Dawn offer is something slick and streamlined without losing sight of the main goal: to smash your teeth in.”
Bloodshot Dawn released their album digitally on bandcamp on March 5th, and went on to support Fleshgod Apocalypse on their 'Agony UK/EIRE Tour'. During these tour dates Terrorizer magazine streamed Bloodshot Dawn's debut album on their website. Shortly after this, Terrorizer distributed ‘Bloodshot Dawn’ as a free CD with issue #221 of the magazine in support of raising further awareness of the band.
Later in 2012 Bloodshot Dawn played a packed out performance at Bloodstock Open Air festival, the UK's largest independent metal festival, as well as playing frequent shows around the UK including a full tour support to death metal legends, Decapitated.
Following the success of their debut album, Bloodshot Dawn entered Envy Studios in September 2012 to record a brand new single entitled ’Theoktony’, between tour commitments. The single was released on October 26th 2012 with all proceeds in support of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation (www.sophielancasterfoundation.com)
The following month saw Bloodshot Dawn leave the UK for their first shows abroad. The band toured with Deals Death in Japan and finished the year in India touring with fellow UK metallers Xerath including a slot at Indian Metal Festival headlined by arguably Frances biggest metal export, Gojira.
Not resting for one moment Bloodshot Dawn continued to trail a blaze throughout 2013. A European tour alongside Polish death metal masterminds Vader In January/February, a slot at Hammerfest in March, a UK tour supporting Scar Symmetry in March/April before moving on to a short UK headline tour immediately following the Scar Symmetry tour.
Summer 2013 arrived and the band graced more stages throughout the UK and further afield, headlining Headbangers Balls in Cardiff, Wales, appearing at UK Techfest, supporting Wintersun on their UK tour supporting new album ‘Time’, a slot at Metal Days in Slovenia, UK Techfest MAV Festival, Italy. In September Bloodshot Dawn returned to the UK for a headline tour completing the touring cycle for the debut self-titled album leaving a frenzy of fans in their wake.
A new year has arrived and a new chapter has begun. Bloodshot Dawn are currently preparing new material for their sophomore recording all whilst expanding their sights and looking into new territories to campaign throughout 2014.
The four of us in Bloodshot Dawn are extremely proud to be offered the opening slot on the Ronnie James Dio stage! This years event looks to be the biggest yet and we are more than excited at being invited to take part in it. We are currently working on our second album and plan to debut new material live at this year’s B.O.A for the first time ever, because, let’s face it, what better place is there to showcase our new album than at our home country's finest metal festival!?
Bloodstock has been a big part of the band since 2009, when we won metal to the masses and got our first taste of the amazing atmosphere. A huge land mark in the development of the band, it made us that much more determined to keep pushing our limits, having played on the same line up as some of the best bands in Metal. Then in 2012 we had the honour of playing on the Sophie stage, which was one of the best shows we have played to date! It was incredible, completely insane, and we could not of asked for a better crowd!
We would like to thank all of the Bloodstock Team, and you, it’s attendees, for believing in independent metal music, and making a real difference to underground and unsigned music in the UK and beyond. The festival is a huge credit to our scene and we are blown away to be able to step up and bring Bloodstock an unforgettable opening show! See you there!"
