KAHTET - K
"We are Kahtet. We are one from many."
Kahtet create soundscapes, blending intricate, melodic passages with brutal, technical riffs. Kahtet have been described as progressive metal, tech metal, post-metal and djent, amongst others. Having received comparisons to the likes of Tool, Mastodon and SikTh, Kahtet continue to grow, fuelled by the pride of knowing that their music is being mentioned in the same breath as that of some of their biggest influences.
The beginnings of Kahtet can be traced back to the decision of guitarist Wez Bennett to share some song ideas with former band mate and drummer, Ben Coley. Ben, immediately realising the potential of Wez's material, shared it with childhood friend and bassist, Matt Elkins. Both agreed that it'd be a heinous crime if Wez's songs never saw the light of day, and persuaded him to start a band for that very purpose. Kahtet was born.
After months of writing and rehearsing, Kahtet's debut show took place in late 2013. Since then, Kahtet have been gigging regularly in the South at venues including the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth, the Joiners in Southampton and the Anvil in Bournemouth. Kahtet's live performances have earned them support slots with bands such as Amplifier, Karma To Burn and SikTh guitarist Dan Weller's side project, In Colour.
Kahtet battled through to win the 2016 Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses showcase in Bournemouth, and were rewarded with a slot on the New Blood stage. This will be Kahtet's biggest show to date and a great opportunity to expose their music to a bigger audience. 2016 is shaping up to be a huge year for Kahtet, with more gigs and a debut recording in the pipeline.
Metal 2 The Masses has once again shown that there are loads of great underground bands and has proven how diverse metal music can be. To come out on top against such fierce competition was genuinely amazing and a huge honour. We're incredibly excited to play at such an important festival, and to be on the same bill as some of our all-time favourite bands is unreal.
