Their music is an homage to the progression of metal, blending old school hardcore vocals, the politics of anti-fascist punk, the savage riffs of bands like Anthrax and Pantera, with the polyrthymic grooves of bands like Helmet, Meshuggah and Ion Dissonance.
After a recent run in with the English Defense League in a suburb of Leeds, and having had death threats for their stance on racism, Bludger have a powerful message.
We really had no idea at all that we would even get through the first heat of Metal 2 The Masses, so to be faced with the prospect of playing at the most important UK metal festival is pretty mind blowing! We think that these contests are helping new bands, bands with no massive agents or loads of cash to pay plugger's, the grassroots of British Metal finally have a voice, and it will be heard loud and clear at Bloodstock this year! We work really hard all year round, we spend a lot of time on the road, in different countries, playing in dives, not getting paid, skint and surviving on beer and adrenaline...so to play a UK festival where metal is worshipped and valued means the world to us. So, to the people of Bloodstock, fellow worshippers of the Metal...we will not let you down!!
