Band Line Up 2013

‘The
new album was fuelled by a tangible sense of joy’ explains frontman Karl
Middleton. ‘Being able to come back to earthtone9 with a clear sense of purpose
and none of the stresses we endured first time round has meant the music has
just flooded out.’
Indeed,
the ‘IV’ album showcases earthtone9 in dynamic form – combining a high octane
metal sound with a real sense of experimentation. Tracks like ‘God Cloud’,
‘Harsh Light’ and ‘March Of The Yeti’ are powered by massive riffs and pile
driving rhythms. And they sit comfortably alongside the serpentine flow of ten
minute soundscape ‘Occam’s Razor’ and melancholic behemoth ‘Our Last Sunrise’.
Produced
by Romesh Dodangoda (Motorhead, Bullet For My Valentine, Twin Atlantic, The
Blackout etc) the album is a slab of modern metal that won’t disappoint.
‘We
could not be more proud of this record,’ explains drummer Simon Hutchby. ‘It’s
exactly the kind of music we’d want to listen to.’

"More
than just a band, earthtone9 are an inspiration. While their records
may be
criminally overlooked by most, like mushrooms in damp spaces their
influence
has blossomed darkly and over time betwixt and between the
barriers
within metal 'scenes'. Sounding as strop-fresh razor sharp to this
day as
they did way back when, the songs collated on 'Inside, Embers Glow'
are
more than a mere 'greatest hits' set. Instead they're a map of DIY
ideals
and musical innovations."
