Band Line Up 2013
Band Photo Gallery
Kicking off as a bit of a laugh in their hometown of
Plymouth, Devon at the tail end of 2003, it soon became apparent that the noise
the three guys in Grifter make was pretty good and soon other people were
liking what they heard, and wanted to hear more, actually wanting to see the
band play, so Grifter hit the road in their trusted van, The Swollen Goat and
took their filthy brand of heavy rock and roll to the stage.
Grifter have worked with a number of labels in their time
including Fury 76 Records and Catacomb Records releasing two EPs, “High Unholy
Mighty Rollin’” in 2008 and “The Simplicity Of the Riff Is Key” in 2010 as well
as appearing on various compilations. In 2011 Grifter found a true home at
Californian label Ripple Music, home of 70’s proto metallers such as Iron Claw
and Poobah as well as killer bands such as Trucker Diablo, Mothership, Devil To
Pay, Ape Machine, Stone Axe and St Vitus tour buddies Mos Generator. This
relationship has so far spawned the “Heavy Ripples” double split 7” alongside
Stone Axe, Sun Gods In Exile and Mighty High and the debut, self titled full
length album which made several best-of lists for 2011 in publications such as
The Obelisk, Heavy Planet, The Soda Shop, Chybucca Sounds…etc. as well as
appearances on cover mounted CDs for Classic Rock and Metal Hammer magazines
and the soundtrack to an episode of Dog the Bounty Hunter. 2013 will see the
release of the band’s second album for the label, tentatively titled “The
Return Of The Bearded Brethren” to much anticipation.
On stage Grifter have also had some lucky breaks
including a UK tour with Small Stone Records’ Sun Gods In Exile, a headline
slot on the Black Heart stage at the inaugural Desertfest, a slot at the first
Freak Valley Festival in Germany and, the icing on the cake, a support tour as
special guests at the invitation of Orange Goblin. In 2013 Grifter hit not one
but two festivals at Hard Rock Hell and a slot on the Sophie Lancaster stage at
Bloodstock Open Air!!!
Onwards as upwards from now on. The release of the new
album will see Grifter hit the road far more….where? Could be anywhere,
Britain, definitely. Europe, probably. The States…well, it’s been mentioned!!!
Let’s just enjoy the ride!!!
