"We are beyond stoked to be playing Bloodstock!!! Its a massive achievement for One For Sorrow and we cannot wait to share the stage with so many amazing bands. Bloodstock is the UK's true Metal Fest, the one that still feels like a festival, should feel. The one that really cares about the scene, and sincerely gives emerging bands the opportunity to show what they can do - injecting life's blood into the bands of tomorrow, today. We are honored to have been selected for the bill and would like thank Simon, Adam and everyone at the Bloodstock team for making this possible".
Having had fair achievements with both outfits, Vocalist Joe Thompson and Guitarist Jason Putter, had joined forces to formulate the sound, and band, that they had always aspired to be a part of throughout their musical endeavours.
Inspired by this shared vision, unhindered by disagreements of style and music that dogged other bands, they soon had a collection of songs they honestly believed in with all their hearts and minds.
A chance encounter with Bassist Tim Maude at Joe’s local, led to the band finding its first roots as a unit. And when Ross Quinn answered an ad for a drummer, One For Sorrow was truly born.
From the first there was genuine excitement, mutual appreciation and a sense of “winning the bandmate lottery” so to speak. They rehearsed, and collectively nailed the songs that would become their live set, which they honed to perfection.
In September 2012, One For Sorrow entered Legacy London Studios, with Dan Abela and Joe Smyth to record their debut EP, “Backs To The Wall”.
Once the EP was tracked and mixed, legendary producer Matt Hyde (Machine Head, Slipknot, Trivum, Bullet For My Valentine, Fightstar, Gallows to name a few), happened to hear the songs. Being rather impressed by what he heard during this chance visit to Legacy London Studios, he offered to get involved and master the EP.
One For Sorrow self financed the EP, recording and production, and have since self-financed its release as a digital download, the EP is available to. Buy worldwide via more than 700 online retailers.
Their live shows have been extremely well received, passionate furious. The band live for playing live.. Alexander Milas, editor of Metal Hammer, had this to say about One For Sorrow’s live show: 'A heady brew of red-blooded, fist-pumping metal that isn't afraid to groove, OFS will blow your gonads into the next time-zone, guaran-fucking-teed.' They have been featured guests on the newly launched Bloodstock Radio, as part of the new up and coming unsigned bands feature on “The Noiseletter”, live with Tina Saul and Beaye Malphas.
One For Sorrow’s debut EP, “Backs To The Wall”, has been heartily received by the press; an excerpt from the Terrorizer review reads "The British stoner/classic metal scene seems in fine health at present, and London's One For Sorrow could well be ready to follow in the esteemed footsteps of Orange Goblin and the like in the near future. Armed with plenty of aggro and some mighty fine grooves the four-piece impress on furious cuts like 'Bigot', likely to go down well with many disciples of the riff."
