ELECTRIC MOTHER are an unstoppable 5 piece powerhouse of groove-infused rock, hailing from the Viking isles of Orkney in the North of Scotland.
More commonly associated with its traditional and folk music, Orkney has produced numerous musicians and performers of international reputation, but their rock bands have tended to simply be cover acts, with audiences clamouring for familiar favourites instead of original and trendsetting music.
ELECTRIC MOTHER manages to almost effortlessly smash barriers and obliterate that complacency. With an attitude as bold and in-your-face as the wall of sound that stuns you at their live shows, their high energy and infectious grooves instigates a frenzy among their audiences.
ELECTRIC MOTHER’S members are slick well seasoned performers who have enjoyed veritable success in previous musical experiences, but all yearned for something different, something more fulfilling and visionary. This common desire to create something exciting and groundbreaking, their thirst to carve their own sound and form the bedrock of a new scene while taking the audience on a party they’re never forget, brought the band members together and made for a somewhat easy yet positively volatile chemistry. From the beginning, this juggernaut of power begat something that has changed the very essence of Orkney’s music scene.ELECTRIC MOTHER’s style and strengths have been praised in the press :“…heavy music that has swing”…”hypnotic without being repetitive”… “thrilling solos”,,, “precise inventive riffing throughout”… “The bass and drums thunder propulsively”…these kind of accolades are bestowed on ELECTRIC MOTHER on an increasingly regular basis.
With one full length album: Vol. 1 under their belt, these norse warriors have unleashed a beast made of pure melodic thunder to an unsuspecting world. Forty-four minutes of riffology, nine original songs capturing the true sound and feel of Electric Mother’s live performances, the songs are written organically and the themes span such topics as a night in the life of a male escort (‘Gigolo’) to the return of a son from a time at war (‘War-Torn’) without sounding in any way disparate.
The band have hundreds of live shows worth of experience, gaining masses of support from fans both old and new, across Scotland, ELECTRIC MOTHER has supported the likes of such luminaries as Viking Skull and have carved out a solid identity as a “must see band” throughout the Scottish circuit, from the far flung north to the central belt.
ELECTRIC MOTHER’s immediate goal is to continue to build its local and regional following and to prick the ears of those further afield, not only with their interactive live appearances, but also with a follow up album currently in post production. The band have recently returned from a mini-tour of Scotland and are lining up dates for the summer and beyond. ELECTRIC MOTHER can be found and followed on Facebook, and keep everyone up to date visually via Instagram. Their fan-base, which has grown steadily since their inception, has spiked recently as the band pushes and promotes its sound, reaching as far afield as Scandinavia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. With the release of Vol.1, Electric Mother have created a page at the promotional site Band Camp to distribute the album and other merchandise, and the music is also available at iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and all major digital distribution outlets.
