Band Line Up 2021
Formed in 2005 by school friends Edd Higgs and Chris Davies, Black Emerald have gone through many iterations before landing on the current line-up in 2014. Edd is the only original member, performing duties as guitarist and backing vocalist, Simon Hall joined as lead vocalist in 2009 and picked up the bass guitar in 2012, the same year Connor Shortt came on board playing drums.
With three EP’s, two singles and a full-length album titled Hell Can’t Handle All of Us (released in 2018), Black Emerald have refined their sound over the years and mixed in many elements of hard rock, thrash metal, blues rock, stoner metal and progressive influences into a signature sound that makes them instantly recognisable among their peers.
Black Emerald have played up and down the UK many times, as well as abroad in Norway supporting blues rock titans Svölk in 2011. In 2013 they were announced as runner-up winners of the Metal 2 The Masses competition in their hometown of Reading and were granted the opportunity to play on the Newblood Stage that year.
The three of us are incredibly excited and honoured to be invited back to play Bloodstock 2021. During the past year live music and the joy of performing have been sorely absent in all of our lives, so we can’t wait to get back to the stage and have some fun with our festival comrades!
