Band Line Up 2021
Sail play melodic, progressive alternative/ sludge metal in the vein of Baroness, Mastodon, and Torche. Hailing from Southwest UK, the band focuses on dense atmospheres, big hooks, and colossal riffs. Forming in 2016 from the doom band Husk, they quickly went on to forge a broader, more modern sludge metal sound with elements of post-rock, pop, and alternative metal.
Their latest single Mannequin was released on 10/07/20 to stellar reviews, including coverage in Metal Injection and Heavy Blog is Heavy. The video featured footage from bands over five countries, including Vinnum Sabbathi, Morag Tong, and Elvenking. Later that year they released a live EP.
Previously, they released a single, Starve, on 18/09/19 and an album, Slumbersong, on 10/03/17 on Hibernacula Records. These received excellent reviews including a 4K Kerrang review, coverage in Terrorizer, and a slot on Radio Fenriz. Later that year they toured England and Scotland with Cybernetic Witch Cult. This was followed by more shows over the following years with Ohhms, Alunah, Phoxjaw and Tuskar, plus short tours with Morag Tong and Morass of Molasses and an Ireland tour with ZhOra and Everest Queen.
The band has been writing new material for an album and also run their own shows as Sub Terra Promotions. They have a single release planned for later in the year. They are scheduled to play at Hard Rock Hell's Spring Break next year, alongside Tyr, Lawnmower Deth and Dream Evil.

Sail are thrilled to be playing Bloodstock this year; between us we've been involved in numerous projects who have entered over the past ten years and we're pumped that this is our year. We've attended many, many times as fans as far back as 2010, and we're particularly excited to be here to celebrate the country's return to gigs.
We're also very excited to be using this to launch our brand new single, Flood, which has been in the works over lockdown! We hope you enjoy our melodic alt/ sludge tune - expect more of this at our slot on the Newblood stage!
