BREED 77
Breed 77 were formed at the tail-end of the last century, a flamenco rock/metal fusion, the outfit, comprised originally of members from Gibraltar, cut it’s teeth on the UK live circuit. Within the first couple of years the band was named best unsigned act by Kerrang and best New Band by Metal Hammer - soon after they were chosen as the sole support for the Black Sabbath Original Line-up reunion. At the start of the new millennium they signed to Alberts UK ( the UK arm of AC/DC’s label ).
They released 4 albums on Alberts, Breed 77 in 2000, Cultura in 2004, In My Blood (En Mi Sangre) in 2006 & Un Encuentro in 2007. It was with Cultura that things really took off - entering the UK rock charts at Number 3 and spawning 3 singles that bothered the mainstream charts with The River breaking into the UK Top 40 at a time when rock was not very common in the charts. Breed 77 set off touring around the globe gaining new audiences worldwide playing with the likes of Life Of Agony, Machine Head & Korn and playing festivals like Download UK, Greenfields SUI, Wacken & Terramoto in GER. They were also invited to the prestigious SXSW in Austin Texas and the LA Music Forum - they even spent a month touring Australia.
After completing their contract with Alberts the band released Insects in 2009 and Insectos in 2010 on their own label. Featuring their universally popular cover of Zombie by The Cranberries, extensive touring took them to new places like Japan with MegaDeth as well as a month long arena tour in Mexico with Mago De Oz .
The band’s sixth studio album, The Evil Inside was released on Frostbyte Media/Universal in 2013 - the first single/video Bring On The Rain is released to critical acclaim and the band continue to tour culminating in a headline appearance at Gibraltar’s national square in front of thousands to celebrate Gibraltar’s National Day.
In 2014 the band celebrate the 10th anniversary of Cultura with a sell-out run of dates that runs into summer 2015 when they announce that they would be going on hiatus to pursue other projects.
They reform momentarily in 2017 for a special one-off performance as part of the Tercentenary celebrations in Gibraltar, attended by thousands - the show is streamed around the world.
Fast forward to the present day and Breed 77 is back - they released their first single in ten years ‘End of the Line’ to critical acclaim at the start of 2024, their second single ‘Outside’ made it onto Kerrang’s new music chart in May 2024, the same month the band make their triumphant live comeback with a string of packed dates around the UK. More music is coming as well as the impending release of a new album.
