FAMYNE
Hailing from the heart of the garden of England, Canterbury Doom outfit Famyne have, ever since conception in 2014, been steadily building a name for themselves, and a sound all of their own.
Gathering a dedicated following from the very first moment they exploded on to the scene, they quickly released the ‘Famyne EP’ in 2015, which spread their low, slow and haunting sound right across the metal world and beyond. The following year, the band won the Metal 2 the Masses competition in Kent, earning a place at Bloodstock Open Air 2016, before playing at Into The Grave Festival that same year in The Netherlands-their first foray into the wider doom community, but certainly not the last.
Famyne bring an insatiably energetic live performance, with hypnotic waves of crushing riffs and pounding rhythm, smothered in pure dread, expressed in the distinct, inimitable voice of their lead vocalist. By the close of 2018, the band had self-released their debut full-length album to critical acclaim, following it up with an extensive tour of Europe, which further pushed home their prototypical, distinct sound, and allowed citizens across the old world to experience them first hand.
But they didn’t stop there: with ever increasing acclaim and momentum, in 2019 Famyne toured 11 countries once again, working hard to cement the reputation they had gained; dragging doom kicking and screaming into the 21st century, signing to Svart Records that same year. Never one to rest on their laurels, during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 the lads feverishly worked on the follow-up to their self-titled album, testing some unreleased material on the rapturous thousands gathered before them in the S.O.P.H.I.E. tent, at Bloodstock Open Air 2021.
In May of the following yea the band's second album Famyne II: The Ground Below was released through Svart records, once again to critical acclaim. The album represents an evolution in the band's sound, with heavier songs on an altogether more epics cale, yet still they remain true to their doomy roots.
The band toured both continental Europe and the UK throughout 2022/23 in support of the release, with highlights including opening the mainstage at Into the Grave Fest, NL and also performing in Reykjavik, Iceland's capital. In 2024, the band begun work on their 3rd full length album, which shows a further evolution of the bands sound again.
